Why connect my Google or Microsoft account?

It lets Amber read the emails coming into your inbox and turn them into useful information across the platform.

Can Amber fill in custom fields for me?

Yes. Turn it on for the field and tell Amber where to pull the information from, such as emails and other data coming into the platform.

Can I add my own status steps?

Yes. Click Add status and drop the new step where it belongs, for example a development-approved step before a product goes active.

What happens to things I delete?

They go to Deleted items first. Restore them from there, or use the trash icon to delete them permanently.

Hi, and welcome to Amber Academy!
In this video, I'll walk you through Settings, where you set up everything your brand needs to get up and running in Amber.
You'll always find Settings as the last option in the left side menu.
Let's click in.
Start with your profile.
Fill in all your information and add a photo.
That way, whenever a task is assigned to you or you own an entity, your teammates can see right away that it's you.
Next, connect your Google or Microsoft account.
This is one of the most important steps because it lets Amber read the emails coming into your inbox and turn them into useful information across the platform.
In Brand, add your company details: name, industry, a short description, websites, business registration, and tax ID.
You'll also add your key addresses, like offices, warehouses, and any physical stores.
In Team, you invite your colleagues.
Click Invite Member, add their first and last name, email, role, job title, and phone number.
In Followers, you decide who owns and follows each entity.
You'll notice that across settings, every entity has its own tab at the top, so you can always jump straight to what you need.
For Products, you can set one general owner and internal followers.
Or assign them by category.
For orders, you can go further and assign an owner for each stage: approval, production and QC, shipping and delivery, inbound, and finalization.
The same logic works for every entity, so the right person is always responsible at the right moment.
In Permissions, you define what each role can do in Amber.
And you can create custom roles too.
Amber comes with a lot already set up, but it's built to adapt to how your brand works, not the other way around.
Entity setup is a great example of that.
Each entity has its own building blocks you can customize.
For products, that includes categories, collections, launch windows, Options, which are any attribute a product can have, dimensions like sizes, curves for how you buy, tags, BOM sections, packing templates, checklists, care labels, and barcodes.
Checklists are especially useful for samples.
They make sure your team covers every point when creating or reviewing a sample.
Just click "New Checklist" to create one.
Every entity comes with a set of fields, and you can add as many as you need.
Click Add New Field, then set the label, field type, description, category, and whether it's required, active, or visible.
You can also let Amber fill the field in for you, using information from emails and other data coming into the platform.
Turn it on, and give Amber instructions on where to pull that information from.
This works for products, materials, partners, quotes, orders, payments, shipments, and inventory.
Statuses are fully customizable too.
Each entity shows its full status flow from start to finish, and you can add your own steps.
For example, if your brand needs a development approved step before a product goes active, just click Add Status and drop it in where it belongs.
In Codes, you set up the naming formats your brand already uses for products, SKUs, materials, quotes, orders, and payments.
Every new record Amber creates will follow the same template automatically.
When you buy new UPCs from GS1, just bulk upload them here.
Each time you create a new product, Amber assigns the next available UPC, so you never have to do it by hand.
Amber can also classify your HTS codes based on your bill of materials.
Classify products one at a time.
Or click "Classify All."
Here, you can see every live integration, including your ERP, logistics, warehouse, Slack, and commerce platforms.
Anything you delete in Amber is kept here first, so nothing is lost by accident.
Click "Restore" to bring it back, or the trash icon to delete it permanently.
And that's it!
These are the key settings to have in place before your brand gets going in Amber.
Everything here is designed to be simple, so you can come back and adjust things anytime.
